The 2010 Jeddah Economic Forum

Under the theme "The Global Economy in 2020," the 2010 Jeddah Economic Forum brought ring together leading decision-makers, experts, businessmen and academics to discuss the outlook for the world economy in the next ten years in the key sectors of banking and finance, energy and the environment, trade, agriculture, industry, education, health, and science and technology.

The 2010 Jeddah Economic Forum proposed to focus beyond the current global economic crisis, at the shape and leading characteristics of the next phase of global growth, which will be well underway ten years from now. To be able to anticipate developments and take advantage of opportunities, the focus has to be on the state of the global economy in the next decade. Key considerations include: the potential decline of financial intermediation sectors and the return of manufacturing and other fundamentals; state investment in infrastructure and social services; concerns over the environment; energy policy in industrialized countries; technological innovation in communications and agriculture; the social and health-related effects of population growth, urbanization, inequity, and war and conflict; and the importance of income distribution.
