Forum for the Future 2009
Morocco and Italy, current president of the G8, co-chaired the sixth Forum for the Future. The Forum is a joint partnership between the countries of the broader Middle East and North Africa (BMENA) and the G8 countries, and brought together Ministers of Foreign Affairs, civil society representatives and the private sector.
The first Forum for the Future was held in Rabat, Morocco in 2004, co-hosted by Morocco and the United States, then presiding over the G8.
The 2009 Forum in Marrakech further developed cooperation between the partners in order to materialize commitments and increase efforts needed to reform the institutions of the region. This included a focus on themes such as human development, democracy, the rule of law, civic participation and economic development.
