Dubai Initiative Conference at Harvard Features MEYI Scholars
Tarik Yousef, Djavad Salehi-Isfahani, Edward Sayre, Christine Binzel and Daniel Egel participated in a youth-focused panel at the 2010 Dubai Initiative Conference at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
The conference was held on May 3 and 4 at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. During the “Youth Development in Middle East & North Africa” panel, Middle East Youth Initiative experts presented their research on youth transitions to employment and adulthood in Iran, Egypt, Yemen, and the West Bank and Gaza.
The Dubai Initiative conference, “Adaptation and Innovation in the Middle East,” also convened panels on finance and development, the role of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in the global economy, state formation in conflict zones, political Islam, and a workshop on climate change and its impact on the region.
The Dubai Initiative is a joint venture between the Dubai School of Government and the Harvard Kennedy School, enabling the exchange of students, scholars, knowledge and resources between the two institutions in the areas of governance, political science, economics, energy, security, gender and foreign relations in the Middle East.
