Navtej Dhillon Departs Middle East Youth Initiative
Navtej Dhillon departed the Middle East Youth Initiative on September 21, 2009 to become a senior advisor on international development at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Dhillon is the founding director of the Middle East Youth Initiative at the Wolfensohn Center for Development at Brookings, guiding it tirelessly from its inception through each step of its progress to date. Dhillon states: "While I am excited about this opportunity for public service, I will miss working exclusively on the Middle East region. The creation of the Initiative really started with Jim and Elaine Wolfensohn. Their generosity and trust created a platform which allowed us to promote a positive and progressive development agenda for young people in the Middle East. With strong partnerships between the Wolfensohn Center at Brookings, the Dubai School of Government and Silatech, as well our network of terrific scholars and an outstanding team, this important work will continue to grow. I hope to stay involved in some capacity as my new book, Generation in Waiting: The Unfulfilled Promise of Young People in Middle East, co-edited with Tarik Yousef, is published by Brookings next month."
The Middle East Youth Initiative team wishes Navtej the best of luck in his new position at the U.S. Treasury. We look forward to building upon the many successes that he has achieved during his tenure.
