Navtej Dhillon Reacts to Obama's Turkey Visit on KCRW's "To the Point"

As U.S. President Barack Obama began his two-day visit to Turkey, Navtej Dhillon spoke on KCRW's To the Point about the significance of the President's visit for the econonomic development agenda in the Middle East.

Dhillon characterized the new administration's approach in the region as "refreshing," adding that the majority of young people were engaged in a "material struggle...to get the best education, the best jobs, and secure a stake in their economies."

On the new opportunities for U.S. engagement with Iran and Syria, Dhillon noted that in Syria, for example, the "interest to engage with the global community is in part driven by its imperative to promote economic prosperity for its ordinary citizens."

Dhillon was joined by fellow guests: Semih Idiz, Columnist, Milliyet; Bulent Aliriza, Director of the Turkey Project, Center for Strategic and International Studies; and Robin Wright, Public Policy Scholar, Woodrow Wilson Center.
